Ramdath Party Slams It Home!!

SLAM!!!  Thanks to Capt Budd with Adventure Watersport Charters on their overnight fishing charter to Key West, the Marquesas Keys and the Dry Tortugas, the coolers of the Ramdath party were so full they barely shut tight for the ride back home to the Miami area.  Wow...what a take...didn't think it was realistic that you could catch that many fish in one trip.

Though the first evening was a bit slow and the winds were a bit gusty, things certainly turned around shortly for this crew, and they made up for it with the grand SLAM home!  The largest catch keepers ended up being 2 Amberjacks each weighing in at about roughly 20 lbs, (although one was not actually caught in the regular manner in which anglers bring in their catch), either way the guys didn't mind as they eat the same anyways.  Although if you're counting the catch and release in that category it would have gone to the couple of enormous 60+ lb Goliath Groupers.  Second place went to the catch of the 18 lb Cobia followed closely by two large (10 & 12 lb.) Mutton Snappers and many Kingfish.  Several Crevalle Amberjack's were reeled in along with a host of Yellowtail and Mutton Snapper, Bonita's and the usual vast array for Porgies and Grunts.

Even as everyone was fairly tired from literally fishing the night away, they were all extremely happy with their SLAM catch, the staff, and Captain with Adventure Watersport Charters.  Next year when their annual trip comes around again Robby stated he and his group would be happy to come out with us again on
their next adventure for charter fishing in Key West.

Fish OOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

Thanks to The Crew from Publix (Don, Mick, Joe, Jan, Greg and Papo) who chose to take their fishing adventure with Adventure Watersport Charters in Key West overnight liveaboard charters.  Fish Oooooooooonnnnnnn was  yelled more times than first mate Jack could keep up to getting the fish off all of their lines at some points in time, (especially Papo)…..Wow what a take….it took 4 hours just to fillet everything they had caught!

Although Joe hit the very first fish, a fairly good sized Bonita just minutes into the troll after leaving the harbor area, Don came in first place for the largest qualifying fish caught with a whopping black grouper than weighed in at 40 lbs….no…wait a minute… make that 50 lbs according to Don’s “arm scale”.  Too bad it’s still catch and release grouper season as that one would have made several meals for everyone; though Papo  didn’t do too shabby when he reeled in a 250 lb nurse shark as well as a 3’ black tip shark, for the non-qualified category.  Second place went to Mick with the 3’ or so Amberjack, with Joe following close in third with an Amberjack also.  Mick caught the prettiest fish with his catch and release of a gorgeous blue parrot fish.  While Mick hauled in a mutton snapper around 12 lbs, Greg was busy pulling in a nice sized cero mackerel.  Jan had the best pelagic fish with a fairly good sized Wahoo.  The craziest catch category went to both Joe and Jan as each caught a spotted moray eel.  Greg and the rest of the crew reeled in their share of yellowtails…2 of them being flags, mutton snapper, yellowtail snapper, bonitos, and an assortment of grouper, and grunts.  The highlight of the trip was “MAN OVERBOARD”…as Joe willing jumped in the water after the captain's bait net that he had cast and somehow seemed to get away from his hands.  After a strong swim against the current he made it back safely to the boat and though fairly tired from the swim laughs were had by all over his swim.  To top it all off they witnessed a couple of very gorgeous sunsets as well.

All and all fun was had, even for the first timers, as well as the avid anglers.  New friends were made, the food phenomenal, and the phrase “take home fish fries” was given a new meaning.
They are all looking forward already to their next overnight fishing charter adventure with Adventure Watersport Charters in Key West.  Thanks guys for the fun and memories with Captain Budd and first mate Jack!  Can’t wait to have you back again next time!!

Swimming, swimming, swimming....keep on swimming

The underwater adventures of the Henson party (Stacey, Levi, Luke, Clarie, Mike and Julie) had are memories made for a life time for all!  Everyone was extremely happy, grateful, and a bit tired after so many dives, thanks to Adventure Watersport Charters in Key West scuba diving overnight liveaboard charters to the Marquesas Keys and the Dry Tortugas.

The waters were warm, the seas calm and the visibility was incredible...the best of conditions for scuba diving...not to mention the awesome sunsets, the crystal clear star filled skies,  and the underworld aquarium we all experienced.  The food was wonderful too as we did a bit of fishing for yellowtail and mutton snapper (great catch Claire and Luke), for our dinners and the captain's culinary skills we second to none cooking on a liveaboard, thanks to Captain Budd.  We visited several wrecks but by far everyone loved the Vandenberg the best as well as the Marquesas reef line.  Julie encountered a bit of a surprise when she met a fairly large grouper face to face as she swam through the wreck, but Dive Master Jack was with her to calm her down and look after her, and Luke our underwater photographer, was of course, on the other side of the wreck at the time, so no photo...too bad...it would have been a picture worth a thousand words!  Large schools of parrot fish and loads of several other species swarmed around as we dove the reefs; it was just an awesome sight.  We saw several turtles, a couple of rays, an eel (a bit scary), a large baraccuda, and a couple of small sharks that Levi and Mike actually got to touch while them swam side by side with them.  A pod of dolphins acutally graced us with their presence for quite some time, as they did some bow riding in front and alongside our 43' boat on the way out to sea too.

Though we dove so much that everyone was pretty exhausted, Stacey stated that she was extremely happy with the way the whole trip turned out and she only wished that they had more time to spend with us so they all could get to "all the great spots".  We kind of laughed and told her that would take more than 3 days with us but she was more than welcome to come back in the near future and try again....maybe next time for "bug" hunting season that starts shortly.  All agreed that they would be back again with Adventure Watersport Charters for their next Key West scuba diving overnight charter!  Thanks Henson's...we truly enjoyed having you all with us for such a great time.

Jailed Fish for the Aladro Party

The Miami guards strike it with a BIG catch on the Emily Anne with Adventure Watersport Charter in their Key West fishing charter overnight liveabord adventure!
Hats off to the Aladro party (Alex and Manny Aladro, Alex L, Clyde…CC…Jorge and Tony) with their big haul in.  Fun was had by all watching Alex A. win the largest overall fish contest with his whopping catch of a 350# Reef Shark; the largest of the catch and release series of the 4 caught on this trip with the others weighing in at 250# or better, thanks to the hard work of Alex A., Manny and Alex L.  Second place went to Clyde (CC) with his reel in of an 18# Dolphin/Mahi Mahi , and third was a triple tie up between father, son and Jorge.  Manny pulling in a catch and release 10# grouper, Alex with a 10# Dolphin/Mahi Mahi, and Jorge with a 10# Bonita.   Alex L and Tony along with the rest of the crew bagged tons of yellowtail snappers, cero mackerel, black fin tuna, porgies, an Amberjack and even a barracuda, completed with a view of even a few sailfish on the way back in to port, that unfortunately decided they weren’t that hungry.

Though the slap talk was thick, the laughs were many, the food Capt Budd cooked for all was wonderful, and great memories were made, it was a good time for all that came to an end too quickly.  Thankfully the ride from Miami isn’t far and they absolutely guaranteed they’d be back again next year for their “coozie” discount  for some more fun filled times in their Key West charter fishing adventures with Adventure Watersport Charters.

Bachelor Bro's Fishing Party Competition

Bachelor party survival and competition was the name of the game with the McGrogan brothers and friends in a fun filled and highly competitive Key West overnight fishing trip to the Marquesas Keys with Adventure Watersport Charters on their 43' Key West fishing charter liveaboard boat.
The weather was great, the fish were biting and the liquid refreshments flowed as Packy (bachelor at large), Marty, Matt and Joe hauled in the fish, one after the other in their intense competition for the largest fish, most exotic and biggest fish on the smallest pole.  Marty placed first for the most exotic fish reeling in a 7# catch and release scamp grouper as well as first place in class for the largest fish on the smallest pole with a 12' yellowtail snapper.  As the competition heated up, Joe managed to win the largest fish prize with a 10# or so dolphin fish, although some believe he would have won the previous category as well however while reeling in a "large fish", a barracuda literally bit the fish off of Joe's line...ok...so he also won the biggest fish story too!  Matt and Packy had their share of haul in's as well with a cero mackerel, yellowtail snappers, margates, Porks, Porgies, Grunts and mutton snapper; which are just starting their spring spawning season.

As they docked they all agreed that the fun they had and the catch were well worth the ride down from northern Florida, for their Key West fishing charter adventure with Adventure Watersport Charters, and that they'd surely be back again sometime soon to fish with us again!

Our thanks to the McGrogan party for choosing Adventure Watersport Charters and we wish Good luck to Packy and his new bride on his up and coming May wedding....maybe they'll be serving some  fish at the reception :)
